Wandle Early Years Hub

Wandle Early Years Hub was one of three such Hubs set up by London Mayor Sadiq Khan to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds fulfil their potential.

The three-year initiative from 2018 to 2021 targeted disadvantaged areas in Wandsworth and Merton with the aim of increasing take-up of the 2-year-old offer overall, including children with Special Educational Needs. The Hub also aimed to provide professional development around supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Highlights of the three-year project include:

• Over three years, 660 children attended the Fantastic Twos programme, with 80 per cent going on to take up a funded place
• Delivering the OCN qualification for staff working with EY children with SEND
• Collaboration with University of Roehampton on an EY careers film – 75% of students who watched it said they would consider a career in EY
